Queen Victoria: Harper's Pick Mrs Beckham For Their Brit Celebration Cover

Victoria Beckham is helping Harper's Bazaar UK celebrate "Britain's idiosyncratic cultural royalty" by posing for the cover of their May 2012 issue. The result? Very summery and very pretty:

In a nod to the fact that Victoria now spends a lot of her time outside the UK, the pictures were shot by photographer Camilla Akrans in Los Angeles where the pop singer-turned-designer now lives with husband David.

Wondering what she's wearing? For once it's not one of her own designs! VB has actually donned one of Prada's fabulous Spring/Summer 2012 swimsuits:

Our favourite thing about the cover (Victoria aside) is the subtle tweaking to the Harper's typeface. Font fans will know that the brand traditionally uses the distinctive angular H&FJ Didot type, but for May's floral summertime cover look the nameplate incorporates a number of cute flourishes - it's a tiny detail but one we love. We're also thinking that maybe Harper's could start doing Google Doodle-esque designs for each of its special issues.

Full feature appears in the May issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, on sale Monday 2nd April
