Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has undergone surgery, just weeks after declaring he was in remission from liver cancer.

The singer is now in hospital recovering after his operation on Sunday.

It is thought the singer is suffering from an intestinal condition, but reports about the cause of his hospital spell remain unconfirmed.

He was due to sing at the Royal Philharmonic's premiere performance of The Titanic Requiem in London on April 10, but has been forced to pull out all public appearances.

An spokesperson for the star has said: "On Sunday 25 March, Robin Gibb underwent further intestinal surgery.

"He is currently recovering in hospital and therefore, for the time being, all existing commitments prior to the Titanic Requiem concert, have had to be cancelled."

Last month the star told The Mirror he felt "fantastic" after his recovery.

"'I am beating cancer and can't wait to carry on with my work," he said.

I cannot understand ,given the disease, why anyone in their right mind would want to pretend to be stricken.I have two instances in the last five years where people I know personally had lied and said they have had /are suffering from cancer-why would they want to ?

This is so sad. The Bee Gees have brought a lot of listening pleasure to the world over the years but don't seem to have had much luck with their health. There isn't a lot anyone can say to those struck down with cancer, it's terrible and has already taken three of my own family members so I'm fully aware of what Robin and his family are going through right now.

If they told me I had a cancer which would likely prove fatal I would not want invasive treatment which could prolong my life for a short while but not 'cure' me. Just keep me pain free and let me go. I think doctors promote their treatments as cures when all it it means is a short extension to life (at great expense).

to dammed true ! unless they could guarantee me a 100% cure its BYE BYE as far as im concerned, having seen the results of some "cures" there is no way i would want any treatment other than keeping me as pain free as possible, not only would it be a waste of money which could be used to save someone that stood a chance, but at my age "WHAT THE HELL"!! its time to see what all the talk is about on the other side any way !!

You say that now knowing that you haven't got cancer but I wonder if those would be your thoughts and actions if you really did have it. You would want as much time with your loved ones as possible I suspect.

Anyone battling cancer has my total respect. Everyone knows someone with cancer or has lost someone to this hideous disease. A man that will battle it in public is awesome. Mr Gibb deserves our admiration and respect.
