Posted: 5/04/2012 12:08 Updated: 5/04/2012 12:08   PA

Gary Sinise has cancelled appearances with his Lt Dan Band after suffering injuries in a car accident.

A spokeswoman for the actor said Sinise was a passenger in a car involved in an accident last Friday. Staci Wolfe did not offer details about the extent of his injuries.

The 57-year-old Sinise was to perform with his band at a fundraising event last weekend in Martinsville, Virginia, and next week in Palm Desert, California.

The Martinsville concert will be rescheduled. The Palm Desert performance has been cancelled.

Sinise stars on TV's CSI: NY. The show has completed production for the season and will not be affected by the actor's injuries.

Dear Gary,

I hope that you are feeling better, as a Vietnam veteran,I have had the pleasure for the past 6 years to hear you and the LT.DAN BAND play a benifit concert at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois every July.

The respect that you show for our Military men & women , and the funds that you raise to help veteran's at Operation Support Our Troops America is just a small part of what your all about.

Your LT. DAN (Forest Gump) Mac-star of CSI / NY, Started Steppen Wolf Theatrical Theater, travel to Iraq & Afganastan, visit our wounded Veteran's Hospitals around the country, and a lot more that you are too humble to mention.
God speed, Get Well, and will see you at Cantigny on July 21st.

Hope he's doing okay, he's a great actor-in things other than Forrest Gump too. It's pretty cool that his band is named the Lt. Dan Band, though.

Dear Gary,

I hope you get well really soon. I love you on CSI NY and I hope that gets renewed again. I watch reruns every day. Keep up the great work.

For those asking why reference Forrest Gump, The name Lt. Dan Band directly references his character in the movie. So even though he does have a current tv role, the role more affected by this accident is that of his band which utilizes the movie character's name.

It still seems largely disrespectful to an incredibly prolific actor to suggest he hasn't done something more relevant in two decades.

I hear you. I think whoever listed 'Forest Gump" Star in the hyperlink figured it would have more dramatic affect to draw readers, though. But the article itself references his current work both with his band and the tv show.

Bottom line, I'm glad the injuries are not too significant.

I don't think anyone was doing that. I think it is great that he uses Lt. Dan as his bands name. He is doing great work for the troops with his Lt. Dan Band. He has been doing great work both before and after Forrest Gump.

Unless you are referencing to the fact that they only mention Forrest Gump as his previous work, then I totally get you, and I agree that it is disrespectful.

Either way, I apology for two posts. Lol. :)

[post is meant for Spartan. I accidentally responded to the wrong person. Sorry! :)]

Good grief he is a television star also why would you take him only to Forest Gump? His current show is on every week?

He's is more than that. And those of us here in Chicago (and elsewhere, no doubt) know that he is a co-founder of the Steppenwolf Theatre, and a great contributor to the stage.

I hope the injuries are not serious and he makes a complete recovery.
I'm also very glad the teaser headline refers to him as "Forrest Gump actor" because I got really, really tired of his CSI: New York character.

Love you and your show. Get well soon.
