'Loose Women' In Chaos After Shingles Outbreak

Loose Women has been thrown into chaos after presenters Janet Street Porter and Jane McDonald caught shingles.

Andrea McLean was recently absent from the show because of the painful skin disease, and on Monday, an executive producer was signed off for two weeks with chicken pox.

Now both Janet and Jane have caught the virus, which causes nasty rashes.

Journalist Janet missed Wednesday's show because she was suffering and just before Thursday's episode was due to go live, Jane reported the same symptoms.

Claire Sweeney was called in at the last minute to help present, and now ITV bosses are seeking medical advice in a bid to halt the outbreak.

A source tells The Mirror: "Shingles is sweeping through the show and it has left us really stretched for staff and scrambling around for female presenters at the last minute.

"Jane came in at 8am and wasn't feeling well so she went to occupation health and they diagnosed her and sent her home. Her doctor has also told her to rest up.

"Luckily Claire was able to step in, but we are now drawing up a list of standby hosts in case anyone else calls in sick. We are down to the bare minimum of Loose Women."

I never thought shingles could be passed on? I thought is was something to do with if you had previously had had chicken pox?

YES THATS RIGHT SHINGLES IS THE CHICKEN POX VIRUS THAT STAYS IN YOUR SYSTEM AND ONLY BREAKS OUT IF YOU CATCH THE CHICKEN POX VIRUS FROM SOMEONW WHO HAS CHICKEN POX AND IF YOU DIDNT HAVE CHICKEN POX AS A KID YOU WONT GET SHINGLES X

Might get something decent on lunchtime tv now for us shift workers. All the sexist trash they spout all the time. If it was a male panel talking like that it would have been pulled long ago as being sexist and rude!!!!

Get your facts right:

You can catch chickenpox from someone with shingles if you have not had chickenpox before. You CANNOT get shingles itself from someone who has shingles.

yep thats right they will have got shingles from the person who has chicken pox as anyone who has had chicken pox ends up with the virus stayin dormant in their system and contact with chicken pox will set the shingles virus of but u cannot catch shingles from shingles x

Have they been kissing the wrong frog?

I gave up watching this show after they pulled a dinosaur out of the cupboard and gave Street Porter a job. What next, Cilla Black?

If they cannot find a few younger modern women who can keep up an interesting chat for half an hour maybe it is time they knocked the show on the head and call it a day.

I've got shingles on my garage roof they are excellent cedar roofing tiles and are bloody expensive - and these geriatric hags get them free - there is no justice !!!!

That's odd.. you can't actually 'catch' shingles.. it must be something else they've got! I have had shingles and it was awful.. the worst pain ever.. urghhh!!! But I know you cannot 'catch it' for sure. It is a virus that stays inside you if you have had chicken pox in the past. It is painful and goes on for too long.. so does shingles....

good lord. how do these intelligent people not know that shingles is from within you. it is leftover from when you had chicken pox. something like too much stress or other triggers will cause it to appear. if you see a doctor, they are kind enough to make it go away with just a few pills. it's only a problem if you try to ignore it. I can't believe this is what passes for news. maybe Huff could try a little harder with these kinds of crappy stories. and taking time off work for shingles? how very cavalier.
