Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish Accuses Match Officials Of Lacking Integrity

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish may face censure from the Football Association after he questioned the integrity of match officials.

The Scot was furious at the weekend after Liverpool were denied at least two penalties during their home draw against Aston Villa, and is now concerned others may think there is a conspiracy against the club.

"It would be helpful and more transparent if they told us, if they explained the decisions to us, Dalglish was reported as saying in The Guardian. "Or even just held their hands up and say, 'sorry I got that wrong', and we can see they have integrity.

"But they never say anything. We don't get everything right, do we? So it is understandable they don't either. But a wee bit of respect towards us would help the situation immensely. Otherwise, people might think there is a conspiracy.

"If there is something, then somebody needs to tell us, and if there isn't anything, they need to explain it to us a bit better. We just need to keep going, we can't let it get to that, where we think it's a [conspiracy]."

Luis Suarez was harshly booked for diving at the weekend

Dalglish's comments come after a weekend in which several erroneous decisions were made by officials in the Premier League.

Chelsea were awarded two goals during their 2-1 win against Wigan which were offside, while Manchester United won a penalty against QPR, despite Ashley Young being ahead of play when he received a pass in the build-up.

Wigan coach Roberto Martinez and Rs boss Mark Hughes both aired their anger, with the former brandished Dave Bryan's decision making as "disgusting".

Bryan has been stood down after his double gaffe, and Liverpool legend Dalglish also suggested the officials' integrity does not match that of his club.

"I know we have integrity, I know we have integrity in bucketloads, he added.

Some have mocked Dalglish's comments:

Daniel Harris
"I know we have integrity, I know we have integrity in bucketloads". Ghandi? Mandela? No, mafia-sympathising racism-excuser, Kenny Dalglish.

"But I can't speak for other people and whether they have integrity. What we have to do now, is ensure this football club maintains its integrity, that the players keep their integrity, and hope that people elsewhere have some integrity too.

"They [referees] have to look at themselves and ensure they are seen to have integrity."

Sixty-one-year-old Dalglish has however been accused of shaming Liverpool's reputation this season in his support of Luis Suarez, during and after the Uruguayan's race row with Patrice Evra.

He apologised for his behaviour after the Reds' 2-1 loss to Manchester United on 11 February after he told Sky Sports interviewer Geoff Shreeves he was "bang out of order" for informing him Suarez had refused to shake Evra's hand.

"I did not conduct myself in a way befitting a Liverpool manager during that interview. I’d like to apologise," Dalglish said in a statement the following day.

Well, firstly, as an American who has a world series for only Americans I mistrust your judgement on all things sport."it happens even to Liverpool" hmmm - what happens?? Sewerez was found guilty of racism, did not appeal his ban (innocent people dont plead guilty and DO appeal) and the American owners on seeing the hadlines in the Washington and Boston newspapers called the shots on Sewerez and "king" kennys apology - i.e. apologise within 1 hour or look for another job (Daglish couldnt write an apology like that in 100 years, he aint that bright). It matters not what players do in Latin America or anywhere alse in the world - the UK has laws on racist remarks so that excuse doesnt fly - you call it no biggie, well it is over here, you cannot abuse another person using racist remarks - period. I am NOT a fan, just glad to see the mighty Liverpool (past tense) still waiting to win the Premier league (they havnt since its inception - they last won the old first division in 1989). "king Kenny" has spent £100 + with no return on investment - he should be selling prime mortgages in the US - if you want him I am sure Standard Chartered and Fenway sports in particular will be letting him go very cheaply come May. No chance of top flight Champions league football for the foreseeable future I wont stoop to you level of farewell - I am English

The World series is named after a newspaper not a statement on the scope of the tournament.

Throwing that in as an isult makes you look foolish.

Suarez is disliked as much for his repeated cheating (at club and international level) as he is for his disgraceful racist remarks. It IS a biggie.

Not like kenny to be moaning about something, he must be the worst manager to interview by a country mile, a broken record , Wind your neck in Kenny and stop blaming everything bar the team and you. The honeymoon is over Liverpool are at best average.. bar Suarez and Kuyt and a fit Gerard. If you cant beat teams that cost a tenth of the price to put together compared to your flops what does that tell you? they suck!!! or you do!!! or both. Everton look a better outfit at a fraction of the cost and deserve to be higher in the league. It may be a long time before they are in the top four again. the balance of power on merseyside has moved.

"king" kenny = rank hypocricy. You speak of integrity after the Sewerez debacle?? Time you were put out to pasture old boy, you cant live on past achievements and all yours were as a player - as a Manager your record is abysmal.

"as a Manager your record is abysmal."

Well, he did win the Premiership as a manager.

Mind you, they say it's hard not to feel sorry for Liverpool and their fans, but you know what....I managed it.

No @cool cactus - he was bankrolled by a man with a passion and bottomless pockets who bankrolled Dalglish to "buy" a team to win the Premiership at Blackburn Rovers. Then he transferred to a job upstairs as Director of football and left. Moved on to Newcastle, won nothing after spending millions then left, he is now back at Liverpool, greeted as the Messiah, spends over £100M and is still liable to win nothing - end of the season will see hime retire "to spend more time at home with his family" (usual speak for couldnt hack it and was not smart enough to run the team) and the "king" will be written into the Liverpool hall of fame - to other footballers and Managers and football writers he is a "bottler" - cant cut it and gets out as soon as it goes pear shaped. Now Liverpool are calling for Rafa to return after they treated him so abysmally - I hope he tells them to stick it where the sun dont shine.
