Doctor Who Filming - Amy Pond Steals A Kiss While The Doctor Keeps Himself Busy

Karen Gillan may be preparing to exit her role in Doctor Who, but she's going out in style.

Only a couple of weeks after filming in balmy Spain, she's joined the rest of the team in New York's Central Park.

At one point during filming, the Doctor (Matt Smith) appeared to learn that even Time Lords have to play gooseberry, busying himself with a book while Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) stole a kiss from partner Rory (Arthur Darvill).

Matt Smith appeared to be enjoying himself too, though, grinning from ear to ear as he took the opportunity to take some snaps himself, between takes.

Karen Gillan will be in Doctor Who until the end of the year, and series writer Steven Moffat has promised that her exit will be "heartbreaking".

The new companion has been named as Jenna-Louise Coleman, previously in Emmerdale.

Here are more pics of the team in action, with some bemused onlookers...

I'll reserve judgement on the new companion but I do prefer it when they can challenge the doctor and no, not just by being "feisty"

Since returning from living in the US I've done noting but complain about British television and why can't UK producers learn from the US about lighting and camera angles etc most UK TV is still stuck in the 80's but yay! Doctor Who is doing it now. Almost makes the expensive license fee worth while.

Reality always bites
Sometimes just a bit peckish

I dread to think why you returned to the UK.
Nothing but complain?
British television is revered and sold to many countries in the world.
Many US series are copies of UK programmes.
Lighting and camera angles may be 'Cute' if you are in the business- but content and dialogue are geneally a lot more important to a normal viewer!
Personally I find the new 'Doctor Who' a bit twee!
