New York Restaurant 'The Place' Releases What Could Be The Most Awkward Advert Ever (VIDEO)

Huffington Post UK  |  By Posted: 23/04/2012 10:40 Updated: 23/04/2012 15:10

When any company makes an advert, they want it to go viral. Of course they do - virality means more clicks, and more clicks mean more attention and so more customers. Simple, really.

But there are good kinds of viral and bad kinds of viral - and this advert definitely falls into the latter camp.

Why? Well, that's all down to the awkward acting and the all-pervading air of fakeness. Whether or not the restaurant serves great food and has a good atmosphere can only be judged by people who've actually eaten there... but on the advert alone? It almost defines 'toe-curling'.

If you want to visit The Place for yourself to make up your own mind, here's the West Village restaurant's website for you to check out, should you so wish.

Oh, and as an example of adverts going viral in the correct fashion, here's Old Spice Guy's greatest hits. Mmm... manly.

Looking at the thumbnail, I thought it was going to be a satire based around a giant girl and her little boyfriend. But t wasn't.

I kept waiting for the punchline...but there wasn't one. 3 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Cheers, Huff.

It needs some Cheesy Pearl and Dean cinema ad music from the 70's in the background to make it perfect.

It's like a comical send-up - the type of thing the Fast Show used to do so well.

That is for sure quite atrocious.....i should hope the food isn't as bad.....i want to know who the person is that sat there, watched that and give it the thumbs up with barbie and ken the cheesiest couple to ever appear in an advert.....and i thought 'go compare' was bad.....
