Say What? Harper Beckham Gets Fashionable Job Offer

Say What? Harper Beckham Gets Fashionable Job Offer

As if that story last week about Gisele's 5-year-old niece being a fashion designer and model didn't make us feel underachieve-y enough, a baby gift website has reportedly offered Harper Beckham a contract to become the face of their brand.

According to OK! Magazine, My1stYears.com sent Harper (and her parents Victoria and David) a letter which read:

"Both your parents are fashion icons, and we can see no reason why you shouldn't start your own career in the fashion industry even at your young age.

"Due to child labour laws we cannot negotiate a contract or salary directly with you, that is why your Mummy and Daddy have been copied in on this letter. We are happy to speak with them about your fee; however, we are prepared to pay you a significant amount to be the face of our new range."

Obviously the letter is PR-able in the extreme (we have no idea whether it's a serious offer but have reached out to the brand for a comment) and, also obviously, we're as guilty of poring over pics of Harper's teeny tiny designer togs as the next person. But the letter does highlight the brow-raising fact that at only NINE MONTHS of age Harper Beckham is possibly the most branding-opportunity friendly baby in the world.

Terrifying?

UPDATE: The brand responded to let us know that the letter was a genuine offer and included it in full. Here you go...

RE: Job offer

Dear Miss Beckham,

We are delighted to inform you that the UK's leading manufacturer of personalised baby gifts, My1stYears.com, would like to invite you to become the face of our new range.

Both your parents are fashion icons, and we can see no reason why you shouldn't start your own career in the fashion industry even at your young age.

From what we have seen of you since your first public appearance less than a year ago, we know you have implacable style and taste. You were therefore the immediate first choice for our campaign.

Hopefully, you will have received some of the products which we sent to you via your Daddy when he appeared on the Jonathan Ross Show earlier this year. We have also tried to get some of our products to you through one of your neighbours in L.A. Suffice to say, our new range is far more akin to your style of baby-chic. We would be delighted to supply a sample to your parents if they wish.

Our range has been gaining some traction with your parents' stylish friends. For instance, your brothers' Godfather Sir Elton John has received some of our products and really loved them.

Due to child labour laws we cannot negotiate a contract or salary directly with you, that is why your Mummy and Daddy have been copied in on this letter. We are happy to speak with them about your fee; however, we are prepared to pay you a significant amount to be the face of our new range.

We are really hoping that you will take up this fantastic opportunity with us and become the first baby to openly endorse our brand. We hope it would make your Mummy and Daddy very proud.

Yours sincerely,

Emily Sandford
