Luis Suarez's Glorious 45-Yard Chip For Liverpool V Norwich And 10 Other Great Dinks (VIDEO)

WATCH: Suarez's Chip And 10 Other Great Dinks

Although it was Luis Suarez who netted a brilliant Liverpool hat-trick away at Norwich City, it was the Reds' captain Steven Gerrard who had the last word.

"It was just on the tip of my tongue to give him a b********g but then he did that."

Suarez's audacious 45-yard chip came shortly after he fluffed one effort inside the 18-yard box. "W****r! W****r! W****r!" hollered Canaries fans. He got his own back.

His superlative effort is a reminder of the genius he possesses, and is a welcome denouement to a fraught campaign in which he has emerged as one of football's most loathsome players.

But his brilliance cannot be denied, so in tribute to the Uruguayan, here are some other fine chip shots, as footballers' golfing instincts comes in handy.

ANTONIN PANENKA V WEST GERMANY, 1976

This was to win the 1976 European Championship, and Panenka's "falling leaf" in the penalty shootout of the final laid down the gauntlet to all other cocksure footballers.

GLENN HODDLE V WATFORD, 1983

In the early 1980s, guile in English football was as scarce as Margaret Thatcher winning a popularity contest. So when Hoddle did this at Vicarage Road, it was rightly replayed over and over again.

ERIC CANTONA V SHEFFIELD UNITED, 1995

You all remember the Frenchman's chip against Sunderland, but his effort against Sheffield United in the FA Cup the previous year is superior. Why? The swirling gales, the audacity and the fact that Alan Kelly ends up in the back of the net with the ball.

MATT LE TISSIER V MANCHESTER UNITED, 1996

No great goals list is complete without a Le Tissier strike, and the way he effortlessly beat two United defenders before embarrassing Peter Schmeichel - arguably the best goalkeeper in the world at the time - looks alarmingly easy.

WAYNE ROONEY V PORTSMOUTH, 2007

Too often Rooney opts to caress the ball rather than belt it, and often it doesn't come off. Against Portsmouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup five years ago though, it did.

LIONEL MESSI V ARGENTINA, 2007

Even when Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo were named World Player of the Year in 2007 and 2008, knowledgeable football purists would still rightly argue that, despite their terrific years, Messi was still the better overall player. This is one example why.

CLINT DEMPSEY V JUVENTUS, 2010

We were big fans of the American before he hit 20 goals this season, and his hat-trick against Juve, as Roy Hodgson's Fulham progressed to the Europa League final two years ago, is one of the greatest nights in Fulham's history.

PAPISS CISSE V SWANSEA, 2012

A recent gem from Newcastle's goal machine, it's an innovative finish from the sensational Senegalese striker, who flummoxes both defender and goalkeeper with consumate ease.

RAMIRES V BARCELONA, 2012

The goal that changed everything in Chelsea's Champions League semi-final. Buried beneath Gary Neville's Alan Partridge impression and Fernando Torres clinching a final berth, this was a dink bearing remarkable composure from someone not associated with such technique.

FRANCO DI SANTO V NEWCASTLE, 2012

This is so good because of just how leisurely Di Santo is. Touch, chip, score. It's like your dad lobbing you when you were shorter than a Hobbit.
