Aston Villa Players Involved In Nightclub Brawl Days Before Premier League Game Against Tottenham (VIDEO)

Three Aston Villa players were involved in a 2.45am Birmingham nightclub brawl just days before the club’s Premier League fixture with Tottenham Hotspur.

Chris Herd, James Collins and Fabian Delph were threatened with the police, report the Birmingham Mail, after they became involved in an altercation outside Broad Street’s Gatecrasher venue in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The trio have apologised and been fined by the club, with the proceeds going to charity.

Footage of the incident, which was passed over to the Birmingham Mail, shows Herd - with his shirt open down to his chest – kicking the nightclub’s glass doors during a confrontation with staff.

A fourth unidentified man then restrained the three Villan stars, who then departed the scene.

Earlier that evening the footballers attended Villa’s player of the year awards, held at Villa Park’s Holte Suite on Monday. The midlands paper stated that none of the players at the awards event were believed to have consumed alcohol during the ceremony.

An Aston Villa statement said: "The Club dealt with this matter internally on Tuesday and the players in question have been disciplined, with the fines being split between two charities the club are promoting at the game against Spurs on Sunday - Cure Leukaemia and Anthony Nolan.

"Our players attended the club’s end-of-season dinner on Monday night and training on Tuesday was limited to players who did not start in Saturday’s Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion and those not carrying injuries.

"As a club, players, management and fans are completely focused on Sunday’s game against Spurs at Villa Park."

Alex McLeish's Villa side lie just three points above the relegation zone, and face Spurs at home on Sunday afternoon as they bid to stave off the threat of relegation.

They have won just seven of their 36 games this campaign.
