One of the most memorable FA Cup final upsets happened 39 years ago when Second Division Sunderland defeated holders Leeds United 1-0 at Wembley.

Don Revie's Leeds, who would go on to become champions the following season, were huge favourites against the Mackems as they maintained their status as one of Division One's most feared sides.

Bob Stokoe's Sunderland meanwhile would go on to finish sixth in English football's second tier, having been relegated in the late 60s.

Yet despite the scale of the challenge, fate was on their side. Ian Porterfield may have got the winning goal, but this final is synonymous with Jim Montgomery excelling in one mad moment of inspiration.
