Jessie J Was In Debt Before The Voice

No wonder she dissed bling in her hit Price Tag - Jessie J was skint before her stint on The Voice, according to financial records.

The pop star was struggling to pull in profits from her music last summer, official papers filed at London's Companies House show.

Documents for the year ending last August show Jessie was in the red with a near ÂŁ20,000 loss - despite selling thousands of copies of her debut Who You Are and topping the singles charts with Price Tag.

The singer had ÂŁ360,000 in her gig firm Who You Are Touring and was owed ÂŁ210,000 - but she still had a debt of ÂŁ590,000.

It looks as though Jessie's fortunes are finally turning around after landing a coaching spot on The Voice and sponsorship deals.

A source told The Sun: "Jessie's first-year figures aren't great but quite often royalties from sales and radio play take a while to come through.

"Until last summer, she had played mostly relatively small gigs and been hampered by a leg injury.

"But these days Jessie has deals with drink firm Vitamin Water and MasterCard, plus her fees from this year's number one single Domino and her work on The Voice have delivered serious boosts to her bank balance."

I shall sit in my council house with my hard minimum wage job and worry about how many thousands she has to live on.

You have to wait at least a year for royalties and anyway the powers that be have never been inclined to stop the theft of music that has decimated the music industry. Most acts make their money from touring these days, not from album sales. Also, I expect she has a great accountant.

This is pretty normal in the music business. Artists will receive an advance to pay for the making of an album. As Jessie J's was making her debut album, her advance, which is effectively a loan from the record company, would need to be paid back before she saw serious income. There has always been a delay in bands receiving royalties and it is not unusual for artists to be in financial difficulty at the start.

So why is this news.

The accounts show that the singer hasn't made any money for the financial year, it does not mean that she has no money.

I don't like Jessie, she isn't my cup of tea at all and I don't think she brings anything The Voice, but thats my opinion. I think The Voice is doomed unless they dramatically change things next year, Jessie and Tom Jones do not gel well with the programme, they maybe talented singers, but I think they should be replaced.

Agree she needs to go, sadly she is adding little if any value - but I would keep Tom.

The fickle percentages paid by the music industries moguls strike hardest at the talent producing them ! I suppose you have to be a top dollar act, and produce vast amounts of multi-million pound selling entertainment, to make a fortune... I would also suspect that there has to be a talent there in the first place..

SO WHAT! She is hot, a great singer, has bags of personality. It really doesn't interest me about her financial situation
