Last year Jeffery Deaver became the latest author to conjure up a new adventure for the world's most famous spy, James Bond.

Only the second American writer to become a custodian of Ian Fleming's legacy, Deaver decided to reboot the story and imagine Bond as a contemporary agent, veteran of the war in Afghanistan and a shrewd user of smartphone apps.
