TV presenter-turned-film director Joe Cornish is set to write and direct the film version of Neal Stephenson's 1992 novel Snow Crash, reports Deadline.com.
Cornish has been offered lots of projects since making his film debut with the sci-fi movie Attack The Block, but has only now accepted Paramount's offer to work on this cyberpunk story.
Set in a dystopian America of the near future - where the country is controlled by competing corporate entities - Snow Crash tells the story of a hacker called Hiro Protagonist, who investigates a potent drug, Snow Crash, which is transmitted visually from computer screens to unsuspecting users.
While Attack The Block, which starred John Boyega and Jodie Whittaker, didn't do superbly at the box office, it was given a warm critical reception. Empire called it a "a wonderful slice of sci-fi" while Variety wrote: "Pockets of receptive fans across the planet are a given."
