Roger Federer has beaten Novak Djokovic to reach a record eighth Wimbledon final.

The Swiss won the Centre Court encounter in four sets 6-3 3-6 6-4 6-3 and he will now face either Andy Murray or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Sunday.

Federer, 32, was in majestic form against the reigning Wimbledon champion and Australian Open winner as he provided a performance reminiscent of his defeat of the Serbian at the 2011 French Open.

He has now reached his first SW19 final since he surpassed his and Pete Sampras' joint record for singles wins in 2009 and will play his 24th Grand Slam final at the weekend.

Federer then broke Djokovic on his first service game in the final set, and successfully held serve to defeat the world number one in two hours and 19 minutes.

A win against either Tsonga or Murray will see Federer return to the number one perch he has occupied for the majority of his career.
