Katie Holmes' Film 'Molly' To Tell The Story Of A Single Mum

Is Life Imitating Art For Katie Holmes?

Katie Holmes is going back to work for the first time since she announced her split from Tom Cruise.

Life is imitating art for the 33-year-old actress as she is due to begin production on new film, Molly, about the life of a single mother and her daughter, which she co-wrote and is co-producing, People reported.

The film shoot is apparently due to last until August in New York City, where Katie recently moved into a new three-bedroom apartment with six-year-old Suri.

Katie and Suri were spotted looking happy as they shopped for groceries together at the weekend.

The former Dawson's Creek star filed for divorce last month after over five years of marriage to Tom, and is reportedly seeking sole custody of their daughter.

Katie has stopped wearing her wedding ring and last week she told the New York Daily News while out shopping, "I'm all right - thank you."

Tom - who celebrated his 50th birthday last week, alone on a film set in Iceland - has filed his own divorce papers and is said to be asking for joint custody.

Family law attorney Daniel Valencia told the Press Association: "I think it probably will be a quick divorce, behind close doors. The initial filings always take everyone by storm, once the legal teams are in place it's always best to air the dirty laundry behind closed doors."
