Malawi Pulls Out Of London Paralympics

Malawi has pulled its team from the 2012 Paralympic Games.

The African country was due to send two visually impaired sprinters, Chisomo Jeremani and Janet Shedani, along with two guides and four officials to the London Games which open on Wednesday.

No reason has been officially given yet for Malawi's withdrawal although its Paralympic Committee has blamed the country's government and potential sponsors for a lack of support and financial problems may be one of the causes, according to the BBC.

Talks are being held between the International Paralympic Committee and Malawi's representatives over the late withdrawal, which includes discussions on whether to sanction the country or not.

Malawi was to be one of 15 countires making their debuts at London 2012, which will now involve 165 countries.
