This should of happened years ago, people need to wake up and realise what they are inhaling, the harmful chemicals in cigarettes:
• Benzene (petrol additive)
• Formaldehyde (embalming fluid)
• Ammonia (toilet cleaner)
• Tar - Particulate matter drawn into lungs when you inhale on a lighted cigarette. Once inhaled, smoke condenses and about 70 per cent of the tar in the smoke is deposited in the smoker's lungs.
• Nicotine (insecticide/addictive drug)
• Carbon Monoxide (CO) (car exhaust fumes)
Others:
• Arsenic (rat poison)
• Hydrogen Cyanide (gas chamber poison)

It is my business I have to deal with breathing that stuff in on the regs, I am fighting the war by myself so deal with it, oh yeah forgot to mentionAcetone

Smoking is taxed to the hilt in NYC as well - I don't smoke, but the people I know who do just drive over to New Jersey or have relatives pick up a carton or two from other states.

Funny thing is, because it is so highly taxed in NYC, a great many people of quit - but the local government soon realized it needed a certain amount of tax revenue from the smokers to pay for other things. Oops. Now there is a revenue shortage.

If it gets much more expensive in the UK I'm just going to have friends bring some cartons from Poland. One pack of 20 Marlboro lights cost about £1 there as opposed to £8 here. And it's the exact same brand and manufacturer!

You will have more chance of knitting fog than making this country a no-smoking nation in twenty years time. We can't stop illegal drugs, let alone tobacco. It was the same with alcohol in Prohibition America, even the Iranians or the Saudis couldn't stop that! Criminalize tobacco or make it difficult to obtain then criminal gangs will fill the gap in the market.
