Paypal And Tesla Founder Elon Musk Talks Electric Cars And Mars Landings (VIDEO)

Electric Cars And Landing On Mars (VIDEO)

Ever thought electric cars were too expensive to be taken seriously?

Elon Musk, founder of Tesla Motors, takes one of his latest cars for a test drive and tackles the prejudices surrounding electric cars, including their price.

He also discusses when man can realistically start travelling to Mars - this from a man who has publicly stated he would like to be buried on the red planet.

Musk arrived in the US from South Africa via Canada when he was a teenager, apparently leaving his home country in part because he wanted to avoid military service under the apartheid regime.

After completing degrees in physics and economics, he moved to California, where he founded and sold two internet companies: Zip2, a publishing software company for news outlets, and X.com, which merged with Confinity to become PayPal.

Following this, Musk moved on to his two other competing passions; clean energy and space exploration. He co-founded both Tesla Motors, where he oversaw the design of the mass-market electric car, and SpaceX at around the same time, and currently serves as chief executive of both companies.
