A poll of who Brits would regard as the top 'Celeb Mum' has resulted in some amusing winners – although Dame Judi Dench came out top in the genesreunited.co.uk survey, it was runner up Helen Mirren who gave us the giggles. Lovely as Helen might be, she is childless and has previously said she has 'no maternal instinct whatsoever'!
Third in line was Joanna Lumley, 65, who when not being bee-hived drunk Patsy in Ab Fab, is mum to son, Jamie.
But it was 77-year-old Dame Judi - mum to daughter Finty - who the great British public declared their 'M for Mum'.
Rhoda Breakell, head of genesreunited.co.uk said: "Our mothers are a huge source of inspiration and this Sunday many families will be getting together to show their thanks and appreciation. Each is unique and special in their own way, but it's also interesting to see who the nation might go for, if given the choice. The top three in our poll embody humour, success and integrity, clearly qualities that inspire many people across the country."
The survey also asked about the advice their mums dish out – with almost a quarter of respondents (23) turning to their mothers first for tips on love and relationships.
Rhoda Breakell said: "The advice and values passed to us through the generations of our families are what help shape the people we are today. As a nation we look to our mums for many different things throughout our lives. Their knowledge and advice help us to learn more about ourselves, who we are and where we have come from."
