Lena Hoschek At Berlin Fashion Week: Ravishing Russian Dolls

Lena Hoschek At Berlin Fashion Week: Ravishing Russian Dolls

Braids, headscarfs, layering different prints and textiles - it's hard not to be grabbed by Lena Hoschek's Autumn/Winter 2013. The overall look is pure Russian doll and sure to result in a Marmite reaction from critics, but isn't it revitalising to see something interesting?

Post-Golden Globes, the current fascination with nudes feels rather sleepy and obvious. They're sort of like the new black - a fallback you can always count on when it comes to looking stylish and fresh, but just so blah.

In comparison, Hoschek's designs - shown at Berlin Fashion Week - are a riot. A girl wearing her clothes could work hard all day, milk a cow, drink everyone under the table and then go for a midnight dash through a muddy field. On a horse. Easily. She's imaginative, fearless and probably a bit mad - one part Helena Bonham-Carter, two parts Gretel (Hansel's sister). Now wouldn't it be fun to see more girls like that?
