We are deeply conflicted by Cate Blanchett's shirt and skirt look at the celebration event for the actress's Gotham Magazine cover on 25 July in New York.
On the one hand, we really love Cate and in our heads if anyone can make this work then it's her. And she has a great figure. And that's a really cute skirt.

On the other hand, the shirt is half schoolmarm, half funereal bedsheet ruffle and entirely not working for us. Unless the whole thing is a dress, in which case we will have to re-consider our opinion. And it probably won't be for the better.
