Actress Jennifer Ellison And Her Husband Rescued By RNLI

Actress Jennifer Ellison and her husband were rescued today after their inflatable boat had engine failure.

The 16ft vessel carrying the former Brookside star and Robbie Tickle was drifting towards Moelfre Island, off Anglesey, North Wales, when a lifeboat crew arrived to tow them back to Moelfre beach, on the main island.

The alarm was raised just before 11.30 this morning when the inflatable lost power.

The Moelfre inshore RNLI lifeboat was launched and carried out the rescue.

Shortly afterwards, Ms Ellison posted a picture of the incident and tweeted: "Just been sea fishing with my hubby!! Needed to be rescued!!! Terrifying! Thanks so much RNLI!"

RNLI coxswain Anthony Barclay said: "At the time of the rescue we didn't realise it was Jennifer on board, but after all the interest it has generated, I wanted to thank her for helping to raise awareness of the work of the RNLI charity and for showing her gratitude to the RNLI crew.

"They had the misfortune of suffering engine failure whilst out sea fishing but were towed back in without any complications. We're always happy to help when the call comes and never know quite what situation we may face."

An RNLI spokeswoman said later that the couple's inflatable dinghy was spotted by a passing yacht and also by Mr Barclay, who saw it drifting from the station.

They were towed back about half a mile to the beach.
