Mirror Mirror: Eliza Doolittle

London-born singer/songwriter Eliza Doolittle caught up with Team MyDaily ahead of her new album release this October. She chatted taxi drivers, island chic, why she'd love to be Superman AND treated us to a little Stevie Wonder rendition...

When I look in the mirror I see... *Sings* Lately I've been staring in the mirror, very slowly picking me apart, trying to tell myself I have no reason with your heart! No but really, I just see my reflection. Because that's what mirrors do.

If I was stranded on a desert island with one dress it would be... I've thought long and hard about this because it is very important and I keep imagining a beautiful tropical-looking dress that would be perfect for a desert island. It would have to be long and floaty so if I got in the sea it would drift out behind me and look amazing - like in a movie or something. I don't think I own this dress yet, it's in my imagination and it's gonna have to get designed... Probably by Julien MacDonald. Island chic would be a sick concept for a fashion line.

When I was at school I wanted to be... a singer pretty early on, but before I knew music could actually be a job I think I was quite interested in being a taxi driver. Or a bus driver. I don't know why I just had that in my head for a while. I was kind of obsessed with buses when I was little I would just go on them for no reason with my grandma.

My biggest style triumph was... probably around the time of my last record when I had a lot of fun with short shorts. On stage I'd wear loads of different shorts with fringing, and bobbles, and netting. I really enjoyed making a thing out of that.

If I could be any character from film or literature I would be... well, if I could have two... Firstly the one thing I wish I could do is fly, so I'd definitely be Superman. But then just to be a great female character from a film who I really think has got balls I would be Uma Thurman's character from Kill Bill because she's totally amazing and I love her in that movie.
