We're not quite in Star Wars territory yet (except on Mercury), but this video of a chef using a bionic hand to chop vegetables remarkably well has us convinced that we're on the way.
But while you might be imagining something like a whirling blade slicing tomatoes at hyper speed, the video is more subtle - and more amazing - than that. It shows professionally train Eduardo Garcia using his Touch Bionics hand, made of silicone and carbon fibre to grip food in 25 different ways and perform tasks as dextrous as removing seeds from a vanilla pod.
