Russia has admitted that while it does have an army of space soldiers, they are currently unable to repel an alien invasion.

Russia’s Aerospace Defence Troops were established in 1992 after the break-up of the Soviet Union. Their principal role is to protect the country's air and missile defence, and to run its military satellite hardware.

But they also has a duty to "monitor space objects and the identify potential threats to the Russian Federation in space and from space, prevention of attacks as needed".

Yes, that's probably more likely to be coming from asteroids and not an invading alien force.

But if such an invasion did happen, deputy chief of the Titov Main Test and Space Systems Control Centre Sergey Berezhnoy has admitted there is little Russia could do about it.

According to Russia Today he said his forces were "not capable of that".

"We are unfortunately not ready to fight extraterrestrial civilizations," he said.

"Our centre was not tasked with it. There are too many problems on Earth and near it."

Well, at least we have Nasa.

Oh, wait.
