For as he filmed his toddler hurtling down a hill on a balance bike before smashing head-first into a tree, his reaction was...to laugh his head off!
Not surprisingly, the video, shot in New Zealand, is titled: "Father of the Year - Boy on bike crashes into tree HILARIOUS."
The footage begins with the proud dad filming and shouting 'And he's off for the big one' as his son heads down the steep slope.
While the boy successfully navigates a gap between the two first trees, he is not so fortunate with the next trunk and his dad erupts in laughter, adding: "Oh he crashed into the tree!"
The dad then shouts 'Hang on boy' before presumably going to comfort his bruised son.
The video by a user called Paul Ardern has attracted nearly half a million hits so far.
He wrote: "My goal in life is to make this video go viral. This stars my brother-in-law and my nephew. I have watched this 100s of times.... Enjoy!!!!"
