The legendary star began his long career when he was less than 18 months old, following in the footsteps of his parents who had a vaudeville act.

Mickey’s first film role was at the age of six, when he appeared in ‘Orchids and Ermine’, though he will be best remembered for his role as Andy Hardy in ‘A Family Affair’, a role he reprised in over a dozen other films over his lifetime.

His career in show business spanned over eight decades, with the actor still continuing to perform long into his 90s, most recently making a cameo appearance in the 2011 film ‘The Muppets’.

During his lifetime he was nominated for four Academy Awards, and received the ‘Academy Honorary Award’ in 1983 for his impressive body of work.

He was married eight times, and fathered nine children, two stepchildren and four grandchildren.
