Cancer Survivor, 5, Gets A Katy Perry Makeover

A five-year-old girl who battled cancer has become the star of her own Katy Perry video after singing the star's songs in hospital to keep her spirits up.

The girl, called Addy, had several sessions of chemotherapy and radiation to battle Stage IV kidney cancer, so to stay positive she sang and danced to Katy Perry song ROAR.

Her dream came true when she was given a pop star makeover by US charity Make-A-Wish. Now her video is on YouTube where it has received more than 100,000 views.

Addy's symptoms started in January last year when she was taken to hospital with stomach pains. She was sent home, but the pain returned while on a family holiday in March and her family were told she had cancer.

A charity spokesperson said: "While she was sick, Addy turned to arts and pop culture as a distraction from her symptoms and treatments.

"During her long hospital visits, Addy would spend hours drawing and, when she felt up for it, practicing her singing and dancing.

"Addy took inspiration from an array of performances by her favourite musicians on YouTube.

"When she learned she would be granted a wish by Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic– she asked to be a pop star performing Roar by Katy Perry (her favourite artist).

"Inspired by the lyrics to Roar, Addy fought and beat cancer, celebrating her victory with her wish come true - this incredible music video."
