James Rodríguez had an unusual companion to celebrate with after he reduced the arrears in Colombia's 2-1 World Cup defeat to Brazil - a grasshopper.

After the Colombian forward converted his a penalty past Júlio César, it was when he raced to collect the ball and hasten the re-start that a grasshopper clung onto his sleeve.

A grasshopper was spotted on Rodríguez's arm as he dashed back to the centre circle

Eventually, the insect flew off when Rodríguez reached the centre circle in Fortaleza's Estádio Castelão.

Rodríguez, one of the players of the tournament, was in tears as Colombia were eliminated at the quarter-final stage.

It flew off shortly after Rodríguez scored to halve the deficit
