How To Keep Curly Hair Healthy In Three DIY Steps

Looking after curly hair isn't always easy. There's volume and bounce to think about as well as maintaining the texture and condition.

Want to revive lacklustre locks without multiple trips to the salon? Model Annaliese Dayes (of Britain's Next Top Model fame) shares her advice for keeping curly hair in check in the video below:

Here are three top tips to follow for curly hair types:

1. Invest in hair moisturisers, masks and serums to revive the hair and add shine. Alternatively, coconut oil - beauty's new wonder product which is packed with antioxidants and vitamin E - is brilliant for this. Neal's Yard Remedies recommends doing the following: "Apply to dry hair, work into scalp and down the hair from root to tip, wrap hair in towel and leave over night, wash off using shampoo in the morning."

2. Don't over wash - it will strip your hair of the essential oils it needs to stay healthy, no matter how much you can't handle the slightest sign of grease. (If it makes you feel better, Annaliese washes her hair once a week.)

3. Avoid blow drying if you can. Putting hair up into a bun to let it dry naturally will maintain the natural bounce. Rigorous towel drying will only aggravate frizz further and is likely to leave your curls looking out of place.
