Amazon Will Now Pay YOU To Deliver Stuff More Slowly

Like any business, Amazon is always looking for ways to cut costs. Now it has a novel idea -- give you money for letting it deliver items more slowly.

The idea is simple: while we're all impatient, and used to Amazon sending us our books/hair clippers/whatever in short order, not everything has to arrive in 24 hours. Sometimes you can afford to wait -- and it turns out, Amazon can afford to pay you to wait.

Under a new program the online retailer is offering a "No-Rush" delivery option for customers in the US, which will get your items to you in 5-7 days.

In return you get (a) free shipping and (b) a $1 credit for Amazon's digital movie rental service:

No, it's not a huge chunk of cash, but it's better than nothing (and when it comes to delivery, nothing is already a pretty good price).

HuffPost US point out that the idea is a win-win for Amazon -- it keeps customers onside, reduces shipping costs and gets you hooked into Amazon's digital videos service, and more likely to use it again in the future.

There's no word if it's coming to the UK yet, but if it proves popular expect to see the new shipping option on these shores soon.
