Why is it that players rarely convert rebounds from saved penalties? Matt Le Tissier's sole failure from 12 yards against Nottingham Forest in 1993 preceded a gilt-edged miss, and Tom Huddlestone emulated Le Tiss in Hull's Europa League qualifier at AS Trencin.

The midfielder failed to cap the Tigers' European debut with a win when he saw his spotkick saved by Volesak and then blasted the ball over from four yards.

"Can only apologise to every [sic.] for a lapse in concentration and thinking I had scored the rebound before I had," Huddlestone said on Twitter. "Ridiculous on my behalf."

Hull manager Steve Bruce said: "You'd have put the house on that Tom would score. It was easier to score.

"We've missed our last three or four penalties, I think, so we better start practising because we're not very good at them.

Hull drew the match 0-0 and will host Trencin next Thursday.
