A new survey reveals that 42 reported being looked after by their own father during the summer as a child, showing that the number of dads splitting childcare with their partner has nearly doubled in recent decades.

British children are now twice as likely to be looked after through the summer by their father as children in the 1960s, according to a new survey of 2,000 parents by Sainsbury's.

What's more, outdated notions about fathers looking after the kids being a chore, undertaken only as a 'treat' for mum have been firmly rejected by the latest generation of dads. Modern dads treasure time spent with their children more than ever.
