10-Year-Old British Boy Hit By Car On Turkish Holiday

A British family were in shock today after their 10-year-old son was hit by a car while on a family holiday in Turkey.

Mark Lalor Smith was walking to a restaurant in the town of Fethiye, in the south-west of the country, with his parents and twin siblings when the accident took place yesterday.

The driver of a passing car lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a van before hitting the young boy.

Mark was pinned between the car and the wall it had crashed into, crushing his legs. He was taken to hospital and is reported to be on his way back to Britain for specialist treatment on his legs.

Another British family was inside the van which was initially struck by the out-of-control car, but they were not injured.

The Daily Mail reports that they saw the car speed up as it approached them, then career away and strike the boy.

Local woman Ugur Etiman told the paper that she arrived at the scene of the accident two minutes after it happened. She said the sight was 'horrible' and described the boy's legs as looking 'torn'.
