Autumn/Winter Trend: Candyfloss Pink

Autumn/Winter Trend: Candyfloss Pink

There's something about pink - candyfloss pink - that just screams beauty school dropout.

It sweet, it's fun, it's super girly. But the trouble with wearing pink is, baby, you're a woman now and that means there are things to remember before taking on Autumn's sweetest shade.

1. Don't you dare wear it while eating a cupcake. Nothing says time waster like a woman head-to-toe in sugar pink making herself sick on icing.

2. Do wear with lipstick. A good punchy lip takes this colour from babyish to inexplicably sexy.

3. Don't wear with a hipster-style top knot. It forces the fact you're doing the trend ironically and that's a massive bore.

Next season pink is best worn one of two ways:

a) The tomboy way. An oversized, masculine coat (Simone Rocha's mesh style is PERFECTION) teamed with grungy biker boots and a sleek hand held. Hair should be slick and the makeup, smudged.

b) Pink lady style. This look is the most shamelessly flirty thing since Lolita. It's ultra-feminine, pink polka dotted (Miu Miu's jacquard coat), frilly, chiffon-drenched, pink mohair jacket-ed (Marc Jacobs showcased them!) and set off perfectly with a shin-length skirt.

In short, pink really is a colour every girl can try out whether it's in small doses or top-to-toe take overs. Here's some stunning styles to get you started, roll on next season...
