Boy Suspended From School After Instagram Claims Against Teacher

A schoolboy has been suspended after he put a police-issued picture of his headteacher on Instagram and claimed she had been arrested for driving under the influence.

Riversale High School principal Jamille Miller-Brown had actually been in trouble with the law for failing to attend a court date over a speeding ticket.

When pupil Keandre Varner found the picture, he is said to have been showing it around to other students, before posting it up on the image-sharing website.

However, Keandre's outraged mother, Nakesha Thomas, told WSBTV.com her son never showed the mugshot to other students, while Keandre insists he only put it on his Instagram page.

The trouble began after one of his followers on the site asked what the teacher had been arrested for. Keandre replied "I think because of a DUI."

When the principal found out, Keandre was called into her office and asked about the comments. She told him he was wrong about the charges, and suspended him for 'passing around misinformation.'

"I didn't like, really didn't intend to defame her character," repentant Keandre told reporters.

Other students have now been told they risk suspension if they continue to have the mugshot stored on their phones.
