David Cameron has said that he and his wife Samantha will have internet porn filters in place to protect their children from adult content on the web.

At a number 10 summit on protecting children online, internet firms confirmed that all 20 million households connected to the web are to be asked whether they want content filters installed.

The Mail reports that sources close to the Cameron family revealed the PM will install parental controls. They added that he believes all couples need to have a conversation about online adult content and make an 'active choice' on whether to switch it off.

Mr Cameron reportedly said it was up to each family to make their own decision, but that he thought those with children should choose to block adult material.

Virgin Media, TalkTalk, BSkyB and BT have agreed to sign up to the scheme after months of discussion with the Government.

Mr Cameron said the move was 'real progress' for parents.
