DIY Home Decor: How To Turn Milk Bottles Into Vases

A fresh bunch of flowers is the easiest way to brighten up your home. And what does every bouquet need? A good vase. And you don't even need to spend loads on a new one either. Rosie and Hannah from The New Craft Society show how to fashion your own vase out of an everyday item - a milk bottle.

Washi tape was everywhere in the craft world in 2013 and we're sure it's here to stay. It's essentially printed sticky tape that you can use in a huge variety of different craft projects. Some of the printed designs are amazing, we especially love the geometric patterns and block colours.

For this project we chose to decorate old milk bottles using washi tape. We get milk delivered to our house and invariably forget to put the bottles back out for collection so this was a perfect way to use some of them up! You could do something similar with a wide variety of different objects, old jam jars would work perfectly. We're hoping to fill ours with spring flowers soon, what would you put in yours?

You will need:

Glass milk bottles

Washi tape, ours are from Scotch Expressions Scissors

You need to:

- Cut the washi tape into strips and stick it onto the bottles any way you like. We like using two different prints and creating different patterns with them. Try cutting the tape at angles to create different designs.

- Fill with flowers and display on a windowsill where the light can shine through them! Find us on instagram @newcraftsociety and show us your creations!
