Fashion Hacks To Know This Autumn/Winter Part 2

Fashion Hacks To Know This Autumn/Winter Part 2

We've already covered the matter of preventing ladders in your tights, fluffy jumpers shedding all over the place and watermarks on leather boots. Now for the next instalment of need-to-know fashion hacks this Autumn/Winter...

There are a few key tricks to master in order to have your look super sleek this season - and we've done the ground work so all you've got to do is take note. Gotta love a good fashion hack share...

1. CLEANING ANYTHING PATENT...

If, like us, you've got a serious thing for patent then guaranteed you'll have handbags, purses, skirts and tops made out of the stuff. High shine is high fashion and you knows it.

In order to keep your patent leather looking super shiny and new all you need is a spritz of glass cleaner. Wipe down with a bit of kitchen roll and voila, works like a charm.

2. GETTING RID OF THAT MUSKY SMELL FROM YOUR VINTAGE TREASURES...

You know the smell we mean, it kinda resembles old people (and dust!) but takes NOTHING away from the gems found in charity shops, antiques fairs and vintage stores. Thrifty is fabulous.

All you need to do to get rid of the smell (especially on those heavy or delicate dry clean only items) is spritz them with a mixture of one part vodka, two parts water and hang somewhere to air for a few hours.

See, vodka really does have multi-purpose qualities. Bottoms up.

3. WEARING IN NEW BOOTS...

New season, new killer pair of ankle boots. Needs must. But what happens when they literally KILL your feet?

Put on your thickest, snuggliest pair of socks (slipper/bed socks are ideal) and squeeze into your boots (just roll with the discomfort for now), then use a hairdryer to heat the tight areas e.g around the toes or heels.

Heat the problem area for 30 seconds whilst stretching and flexing your feet. Keep your boots on until they go back to room temperature, then remove boots and socks and try them on as normal. If they still feel a little too snug, just repeat the process. It totally works.

And, whilst we're talking boots - here's the latest line up of awesome styles from Topshop. Be prepared to want them all...
