Have you seen the Parentdish school finder?
This brand new tool helps parents find and compare details of state nurseries and primary and secondary schools (both state and private).
You can search by area name or post code to find all schools and nurseries in your area.
Once you double click on an individual school name, you will see the school's details (eg, the type of school and number of pupils), including Ofsted rating and exams results. The results also clearly display how the school ranks within the local authority and nationally.
If you know the name of a specific school, you can also search for more details by just keying in the name.
This school finder is for England only at present. Unfortunately, data for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland is currently unavailable. But the school finder does show where to go for more details of education departments.
We strongly advise parents to visit schools and nurseries personally - as the parent you know your own children and what sort of place would suit their characters and talents best. The Parentdish school finder is a useful starting point and comparison tool for parents before making applications.
