Flat Shoes: Not Ugly, Not Going Anywhere

14/08/2014 16:39 | Updated 22 May 2015

Flat shoes falling under the ugly/unfeminine category is a seriously old school of thought. (Spoiler: flats are taking over).

High heel-less is the 2014 footwear of choice and let's not pretend they're not the most genius invention ever.

Who needs a stiletto, when there are pointed brogues, cat-face pumps and embellished loafers to be worn at every occasion? Exactly.

The six-inch look is definitely last season, and while we're seeing a few leading ladies (Kate Bosworth and French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt) dabble in the mid-low heel, flats are really the way forward this Spring/Summer.

If you really stop and think about it, the flat shoe is a revelation. Wear yours with boyfriend jeans (Topshop have a fab vintage style pair), a shirtdress with standout ankle socks or an A-line midi skirt for max results, minimum effort.
