Former teacher Jeremy Forrest is led out of Lewes Crown Court in East Sussex after he was jailed for five and a half years after he groomed a 15-year-old pupil for sex then abducted her when he was about to be exposed.

The schoolgirl who fled to France with teacher Jeremy Forrest has broken up with her new boyfriend.

The boy – who, like the girl, is 16 years old - was said to have found it difficult to cope with the fact his girlfriend still had feelings for the 31-year-old, who is serving five-and-a-half years for abducting her.

According to The Sunday Mirror, the teenage girl is now heartbroken and lonely and is desperate to see Forrest.

She told a friend: "I still have feelings for Jeremy and I'm not ready to form a strong relationship with anyone else."

A source close to the girl said: "She's devastated at losing her new boyfriend and feels very alone. She was trying to move on with her life but was struggling with her relationship.

"The boy couldn't cope and took the easier option of running for the hills. She feels she isn't supported by social services and just wants one meeting with Jeremy to work out if there's a future for them.

"After everything she's been through she feels that she deserves a chance of happiness – but can't because of her past."

The girl had previously vowed to wait for Forrest until he was released and said she wanted to have his baby.

She had hoped her new relationship was a fresh start – but now she has admitted she cannot get over her former teacher, who is estranged from his wife Emily, 32.

Forrest was arrested in Bordeaux eight days after his disappearance with Gemma last year sparked an international manhunt.
