Grand National 2014: Ladies' Day Fashion At Aintree Races

Day one of the Grand National 2014 at Aintree saw some serious style statements (who knew evening gowns were an option at the races?) However, although the main event isn't until Saturday, the best fashion and headgear is always saved for day two of the meeting - Ladies' Day.

With the warmer weather, the girls pulled out all the stops this year in an array of colourful cocktail dresses, but bare legs and open-toe stilettos also meant one thing - there was a LOT of self tanning going on pre-race day.

Some ladies even decided to colour co-ordinate their pastel pink and peach outfits. Talk about forward-planning...

As for the hats, floppy fedoras and floral-embellished fascinators were both popular choices at the racecourse this year. And yes, there were the obligatory head-turners - well done to the lady who arrived wearing a giant hat made from cheese biscuits. Yes, really.

OK, the fashion might not be as glamorous as it used to be way back when (remember when Princess Diana wore those 1980s power suits?) but you don't want to miss any of the Ladies' Day style from Aintree 2014...

Heading to the races this summer? Here's our pick of the best dresses for your day out and don't forget to check the racecourse dress code before you start doing any shopping.
