Keira Knightley Reveals Why She Doesn't Like Expensive Lifestyles

She may earn mega money for the roles she plays in Hollywood blockbusters. And don't forget the major beauty campaigns she has under her belt too, modelling for the likes of Chanel.

But Keira Knightley isn't too interested in flashing her cash and living an extravagant lifestyle because she believes living an expensive lifestyle "alienates" people.

The actress, who commands seven figures for her movie parts, revealed her thoughts on money in GlamourUSmagazine and said she prefers to live off around $50,000 a year (around £29,000 to you and I).

And considering the average Brit earns around £26,000 a year, she's pretty much living on a similar budget to all of us.

Speaking in an interview with the magazine, Knightley said: "I think living an (expensive) lifestyle means you can't hang out with people who don't live that lifestyle.

"It alienates you. Some of the best, most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places."

The 29-year-old actress hit the headlines last week when she spoke out about the time fellow movie star Benedict Cumberbatch came to her rescue when she was insulted by a film critic.

Cumberbatch punched a journalist who described Keira as 'Ikea Knightley' - implying that her performance was wooden.

The Atonement star is married to Klaxons singer James Righton. The pair wed in France in May last year in an intimate ceremony with just 12 people in attendance.
