London Fashion Week: Central Saint Martins Autumn/Winter 2014

The Central Saint Martins MA students kickstarted London Fashion Week with a killer show on Friday night.

While the L'Oreal Professionnel Creative Award went to both Ondrej Adamek and Michael Power for their womenswear collections, the breadth of talent as a whole was seriously impressive.

The play in multi-fabrication was pure textiles genius. There were floral 3D appliqué dresses, beautifully embroidered knits, tassels, ponyskin and perspex.

This clique are way ahead of the fashion game and if you want in, take note of these points from the show:

1. Mix in metallic. Channel your inner magpie and make it all about OTT wares: 50s kick-out skirts, tube dresses over trousers and asymmetric separates.

2. Monochrome is forever. The most budding designers dabbled in the trend and even proved that you can add a flash of colour into the mix (with sheer pastel tights or luxe red lycra gloves.)

3. Sheer and chiffon are all kinds of sexy. And of the bead-embellished variety.

4. Oversize your ensemble. When the silhouettes weren't quirky and multi-faceted, they were boxy and big.

Bravo those Central Saint Martins MA students. See the full show here...
