Mum Shops Daughter To Police For Knifepoint Shop Raid

A shocked mum shopped her own daughter to the police after discovering she had raided a convenience store armed with a knife.

Bernadette Chapman, 27, carried out the raid with her partner James Clewes, 32. They stormed into a branch of Best One in Bury, Manchester, each armed with a blade.

While Clewes held the frightened checkout operator at knife-point, Chapman filled a bag with cash and cigarettes.

CCTV footage of the robbery shows the pair wielding deadly-looking blades while ransacking the premises.

Chapman later told her mum what she had done. Her mum then called the police.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Clewes was sentenced to three years and four months by Bolton Crown Court, whilst Chapman was jailed for two years and six months after admitting her part in the robbery.
