My Apartment: Laura Pradelska

My Apartment: Laura Pradelska

Though only back in the UK for a month to do press interviews before she resumes filming, actress Laura Pradelska warmly welcomed us into her elegant garden flat in North West London.

The German-born Game of Thrones actress - who previously lived in LA for eight years - gave us a tour of her stunning home which perfectly marries her own eclectic style with her husband's love of Bauhaus design.

Having grown up in Germany, lived in LA and settled in London, have these different places each influenced the way you decorate?

I feel as if every time I have moved, I left a whole life behind and started anew. I think the LA lifestyle - and decor for that matter - is vastly different from here, mainly because of the climate. My mother always had fresh flowers in our home in Germany. I guess I took that from her and from my life there.

What's the first thing you do after returning home from filming?

My biggest joy and probably most relaxing thing is lying on the couch and reading books on my kindle. I mostly read Chris Cleave, Charlotte Link and Ildiko von Kürthy books.

What's your biggest extravagance for your home?

Probably our brand new food processor. I insisted on buying one as I wanted to change our lifestyle and start cooking healthy and eating out less... I still haven't taken it out of the box - shameful, really!

When learning lines at home, how do you switch into work mode?

After procrastinating for about two hours, I turn off all appliances (laptop, phone, kindle) and just sit in the conservatory and start my work.

I get distracted very easily, so I try to shut myself off from the outside world completely.

What do you miss about living in Islington and what do you love about the area you live in now?

I LOVE Angel and I really miss all the bars and little restaurants there, but I am now really happy here and we have loads of great friends in the area as well as fantastic pubs like The Washington and The Stag. I also love going to Chamomile Café. Plus there are such wonderful parks like Primrose Hill and Hampstead Heath.

North London aside, where else in London or the world can you see yourself living?

I think I will probably always be around North London, if life and work permits. I really would rather stay here in London, but if work took me to other countries, I would be okay with that too.

I've moved houses, countries and continents so often in my life that I can get acclimated very easily.

One of my favourite places in the world is Tel Aviv and I could possibly see myself living there one day far, far away, and since Tel Aviv has fantastic Bauhaus architecture, my other half would probably be happy too!
