New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014: Oscar De La Renta

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014: Oscar De La Renta

The dreamiest of dresses, the brightest of colours and a jam-packed front row. It could only be Oscar de la Renta's Spring/Summer 2014 show.

Here's what we learned from his latest line...

1. The best colour palette seen on the catwalk in New York so far. Turquoise? Check. Sherbet? Check. Lemon? Check.

2. Monochrome is still big. The daywear included sensible houndstooth print pencil skirts worn with matching blouses and cardigans - all in black and white.

3. It's not all sensible (phew). Multi-coloured party dresses in polka dot and floral prints were fun, flirty and chic - not just because of their Fifties-inspired shape but each model carried a pair of leather gloves in her right hand. Lovely.

4. The eveningwear? Embroidered tulle, sleep strapless column dresses, lots of frou-frou. We'll have one in every colour.
