Outrage At Shocking Film Of Heavily-Pregnant Woman Hitting Her Stomach With A Hammer

Footage of a heavily-pregnant women hitting her bump with a claw-hammer has caused a wave of disgust and outrage online.

Mum-to-be Heather Thorpe, 24, was filmed hitting her swollen stomach just weeks before she gave birth to son Jonathon.

Her ex-partner Sean Hanlon claimed he was filming Heather on his iPhone last October when she boasted: "My baby's hard as anything - just watch this."

Sean, 26, told The Sun: "She just strode over to my toolbox and grabbed a claw hammer. She then hit her bump twice. I was shocked, but Heather thought it funny. I couldn't believe what I was seeing."

Sean was so disgusted by her antics that he reported Heather to the police, but no action was taken.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A report was received regarding video footage of a pregnant woman self-harming.

"A thorough investigation was undertaken and no criminal offences were found."

Sean responded: "I am appalled the police didn't at least question Heather. If there was a film of someone hitting a baby with a hammer they would be in handcuffs in 10 seconds' flat."

The shocking clip was filmed in the lounge of Sean's home which the couple shared at Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham.

Investigating officers estimated that on a scale of one to 10 the force of the blows were around five or six. However, Heather refused to discuss the video, only saying: "I'm not talking about it." She has since posed for photos with her son wearing a Superman outfit.

Critics waded in after viewing the shocking footage.

Sandie Blaney wrote: "Absolutely disgusting!!!!"

Another said: "And there are couples out there who can't have a baby or trying to on IVF and this stupid woman does that. What a sad sad excuse for a human being."

A commenter called Shirlwillie added: "Was she too hit in the womb. As no fit mother to be would dream of doing such a thing."
